Plot:
Officially declared dead after an accident with a pudding truck, Stan comes back to life to realize his dream of leaving a legacy on the world and begins to excavate his home in search of Ollie North's "Contra"-band buried treasure. Stan explains the story of the Iran–Contra affair in which North sold weapons to Iran and gave the profits to anti-communist Contras rebels in Nicaragua. He previously searched for gold left over from the affair years ago but quit to raise his family. While he continues to excavate his home, family problems increase as Hayley turns to body piercing and Steve creates a robotic girlfriend out of a vacuum cleaner.
Greg and Terry decide to document Stan's attempts as to whether he is descending into madness or not. He claims there are clues which lead his search into the basement. When he creates a mine shaft and begins to eat dirt, Francine decides to intervene just as Stan finds the gold. However, after realizing that there were no witnesses or film record of the discovery, he decides to stage it. When Terry refuses on ethical grounds, Stan films the discovery himself.
While he tries to decide the best quote, the mine collapses on Stan. In the midst of a rescue attempt, he refuses to let the gold go and is hit in the head. In his unconscious state, he dreams of the future where his discovery had become legendary; however, Hayley is heavily pierced and homeless, Steve is outcast for his fully-functioning robot wife and Francine has married the Langley Falls town geologist. Visitors to the Smithsonian comment that even though Stan found Ollie's gold, his family fell apart.
Realizing that true legacies are made by the families men raise not by achievements or immortalization on monuments, Stan then wakes up and saves himself by sacrificing the gold. He declares that he has learned his lesson ordering Steve and Hayley to get rid of the robot and the body piercing. At the end of the episode, the black fireman from "Joint Custody" tells his partner that he will wait until the Smiths are in bed and then dig up the gold themselves.
Meanwhile, Roger learns that a woman was sexually harassed at Big Buy and given a million dollar settlement when she filed a lawsuit. Deciding to cheat Syntho Corp., Roger disguises himself as a woman and attempts to provoke harassment but fails. Frustrated, he creates a second personality and harasses himself to successfully win $90,000 to Klaus' chagrin.
