Plot:
As Steve looks forward to his class trip to Philadelphia, where he hopes to hook up with a girl in the 10th grade, he ends up getting shut out of the chance of sitting next to her, and has to sit next to Ali, a girl who's skeptical about love. Steve passes a note to his dream girl asking for a date, but ends up making a scene of himself with one of Ali's ghost peppers. However, he does succeed in getting a date. However, when he gets to go out with her, he discovers it's really Reese Witherspoon trying to pass herself off as a high school student in order to score a movie role.
When their chaperone comes up missing, Principal Lewis assigns everyone to the nearest person in order to look for him, and Steve ends up getting hooked up with Ali. Faced with the threat of getting an F if they fail to find him, Steve freaks out. Having failed to find him after searching everywhere on their list, the pair stop at a diner, where Ali's old flame and his date pop in. Still refusing to admit the existence of love, Ali refuses to leave and look defeated, so Steve eats a Carolina Reaper pepper, which forces them to the hospital. Ali thanks Steve, which leads to a kiss between the pair. Meanwhile, Snot has no one to hook up with. Seeking help at a cheesesteak stand, his effort to get help from the indifferent cashier gives him a breakdown, which leads her to take pity on him and join him in his search. Stealing a police car, she tells him that she loves him.
Later that night, Ali comes to Steve's room and tells him that the kiss didn't mean anything to her and that they should pretend it didn't happen. Further distracted by Principal Lewis' demands that they find their chaperone or get expelled, Steve runs out alone and ends up getting hit by a bus driven by the missing chaperone, and is pinned up against the stolen police car containing Snot and his girlfriend. Steve refuses medical aid until he forces Ali to admit that the kiss did mean something.
Meanwhile, various couples including Stan and Francine, Hayley and Jeff, Steve and Ali, Tuttle and bit characters try to explain how they met.
