  • The official press release for this episode states that Klaus and Roger get in trouble for smuggling drugs during their European vacation,[1] the European vacation subplot actually ends with Klaus and Roger following two blond girls to their house, and Roger wondering if he even likes girls. There's no mention of drugs at all.
  • Stan blames peer-to-peer file sharing program Limewire for Columbia House losing track of Kruglov.
  • Klaus and Roger go to a Taco Bell while in Italy, although in reality, there are none there. This satirizes Americans who eat at American fast-food chains while visiting foreign countries.
  • Sergei said that he worked in the first Moscow Wendy's and the first Moscow Burger King. But the first Russian Burger King was opened only in 2010 and the first Wendy's opened in 2011. Sergei also mentions working at the first Hardee's in Moscow. Hardee's had no restaurant in Russia at the time the episode aired, although its sibling restaurant chain, Carl's Jr., opened restaurants in Russia starting in 2006. Other American name brand products mentioned and/or shown are McDonalds, Peeps, Costco, Little Debbie's Nutty Bars, Jolt Cola, Sprite and Toys R Us.
  • Mr. Hallworthy of "I Can't Stan You" is found dead by Steve.
  • Francine mentions the Disney film The Rocketeer.
  • Sergei claims to be wearing an 'American Winnie the Pooh' sweatshirt, although Winnie the Pooh is a British character created by author A.A. Milne. However, Russians have their own well-established Winnie's appearance, that is drastically different from his American (Disney's) counterpart.[2]
  • Roger and Klaus admire The Mona Lisa at the Louvre in France.
  • The National Anthem of the Soviet Union is featured prominently in this episode.
  • At the airport, the French sentence being said is "Nous vous prions de ne pas laisser vos baguettes sans surveillance" ("Keep your bread with you at all times") instead of "Nous vous prions de ne pas laisser vos bagages sans surveillance" ("Keep your luggage with you at all times").
  • Night Ranger's "(You Can Still) Rock in America" is played when Stan goes on the spending spree with Steve.
  • Schaffhausen is a real city in northern Switzerland.
  • The scene with Roger and Klaus at the airport is similar to a scene from The Simpsons episode, "The Italian Bob" in which Lisa also pretends to be Canadian. Incidentally, Family Guy and American Dad! were referenced in "The Italian Bob" when an Italian police book of wanted criminals is seen to contain pictures of Peter Griffin from Family Guy and Stan Smith from American Dad!. It indicates that they are wanted for the crimes of "plagiarismo" and "plagiarismo di plagiarismo" (Plagiarism and Plagiarism of Plagiarism), respectively.
  • Stan confuses the poster of Che Guevara for a poster for Planet of the Apes.
  • Among the communist effects Sergei gave Steve are images of Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong, along with the flags of the People's Republic of China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. On Steve's dresser are the Matryoshka dolls depicting the images of communists, including Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, and Kim Jong-il. However, due to the Tito–Stalin split, De-Stalinization, and the Sino-Soviet split, it is very unlikely a Soviet Communist Party member would have approved or owned any of them.
  • The book Stan is reading when talking to Steve at the kitchen table about capitalism is titled "Where Are They Now? Former Spy Directory".
