- This episode's music was not written by Walter Murphy nor Joel McNeely. The songs were written by Asa Taccone, brother of Jorma Taccone of The Lonely Island fame.
- Soon after the episode aired, the song "Daddy's Gone" was made available on iTunes.
- Executive producer Mike Barker revealed that there was a time that they thought that the show was not going to be renewed and thought that this was going to be the final episode. To quote Barker: "We thought, "What better way to end the series? Kill the main character!".[1]
- During the hot tub research montage, one of the newspaper articles shows Anne Flemming and Fussy from "Not Particularly Desperate Housewives".
- This episode was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program. It lost to The Penguins of Madagascar. [2]
- According to the DVD commentary, "Hot Tub of Love" was originally written for, and recorded by Seth MacFarlane. A last-minute decision resulted in Cee-Lo Green's performance.
