Fred is a space alien and Roger's father who makes a full appearance in "Piece by Piece." Like his son, he dresses to take on various personas. However, Fred abandoned Roger at a young age and continues to refuse being in his life.
History[]
According to Roger in "I Am the Walrus," he ate his father at age fifteen. Despite that, Fred was around to leave when Roger was 400 years old, though Roger memorized his appearance from pictures his mother burned once a year as a "cleansing ritual."
In the 1970s, Roger recognized Fred in a Berlin nightclub and, seeing him as a "lone wolf" and "a renegade," idolized him, but he couldn't bring himself to talk to him due to the doubt casted by his abandonment. Roger soon discovered Fred's interest in the symphony at the Berlin concert hall and was inspired to make the persona known as Maestro Gunter Van Sleezebiscuit to get closer to him. However, when Roger eventually went on stage to conduct, he tripped, causing not only a fire but Fred to leave him once more.
When Roger revives his Gunter Van Sleezebiscuit persona for a new tour, memories of the incident resurface, leading to several attempts to kill Steve Smith. Roger initially mistakes Fred for Papa Heinrich, but it isn't until he enters the bathroom of Dieter's Brew Haus that he reunites with Fred and starts remembering correctly. Roger introduces Fred to Stan and Steve, and before Roger begins explaining his history with him, Fred goes to "grab a beer"—only to attempt leaving Roger again.
Roger catches up to Fred multiple times, however, tiring him out in front of the Berlin concert hall. Inside, Fred explains why he left: he simply wanted to be on his own, regardless of Roger. He soon disappears once more.
