Father Donovan is the Priest at the First Episcopalian Church that the Smith Family attend. It seems that Father Donovan has become jaded in his role and has stopped believing in God, which is most clearly started in "Rapture's Delight". However, he still puts in a token effort, by speaking at church and providing advice to people due to the fact he is unable to get his full pension in "Roger Codger".
Hobbies and talents
- He has apparently had some kind of chest surgery, potentially a triple heart bypass, or a similar operation. This is evidenced by the large, thick scar on the middle of his chest in "Dope & Faith".
- Father Donovan has dies on-screen in "Season's Beatings". When the family attends Easter services in "Daesong Heavy Industries", a new Priest is present. This creates a plot hole, since the end of "Season's Beatings" is revealed as a prequel to "Rapture's Delight" with the appearance of a young Anti-Christ, in which Father Donovan was still alive.
- Furthermore, Father Donovan is seen alive in "Stompe le Monde" when he joins in the burning of the Smith home and appears during "Everyone is Happy in Utopia" in "300".
