Plot:
Stan arrives at work, only to find a Father's Day fashion show in progress. He realizes that his family forgot him the previous day, but at home, they offer to make it up to him with a do-over of the day. The family awakens to notes from Stan, specifying his gift, entertainment and dinner for the day. But following dinner, Roger berates Stan's acceptance of a second-rate celebration.
The family awakens to notes from Stan, specifying his gift, entertainment and dinner for the day, with some subtle changes to the previous scene. Klaus is puzzled, until Stan reveals that he has erased their memories for a better chance at his dream day. After explaining how he acquired a memory neutralizer at a CIA sale, he proceeds to wipe their memories every day for months in the attempt to have his perfect day.
As a Party Presidential convention takes place, Vincent Thacker's obsession with The Golden Turd continues until his running mate, Bill Sturgis, confronts him over his chemical dumping deal. Spying the gem, they tussle and Vincent is killed. But just as Bill lifts it in victory, two secret service agents enter. He lunges at them, but they fire multiple rounds and he is killed, as the turd slips from his hand and rolls under a chair. It is found by a cleaning woman who bundles it up and takes it to the Vatican where she gives it to The Pope. He presents it before a board of religious leaders who ponder how to return it to its rightful place in order to destroy it, as the camera pans in on a stone tablet of Roger astride an Egyptian pyramid.
Just before the scheduled start of the day, Klaus wakes up Steve and shows him his handiwork of building birdhouses for several months. They gather the family who confront Stan, who is convinced that he can openly vent about their failure to give him a perfect day while believing that he can still erase their memories and reset things, but finds that Klaus had broke his neutralizer the previous night and his hope lies in getting a spare one from the CIA. The family, touched by his feelings, agree to have their memories erased again, but when they arrive at CIA Headquarters, they find the second unit had been sold to a collector in Ohio. On the road trip, Stan's attempt at some bonding by letting Steve drive results in the SUV being wrecked. They hitch a ride to Ohio, facing a deadline of 24 hours before their memories are permanent. But as they just make it, Steve blocks the beam with his hand, noting that they may be better off with all of their memories as a family over the past day intact.
