Plot:
Downtown1

In order to take his pre-pre-SATs, Steve needs to go downtown but Stan has severe reservations, though he agrees to let Hayley drive him after realizing how dumb she is and laying out some rules. But when they pull off the road to get some coffee on the way in Langley Meadows, they end up getting a flat tire and lock themselves out of Jeff's van, leaving their phone inside. Stopping at a house where a makeup sales party is being held, they are able to use the phone to call AAA. But when Steve has to return to get a pencil, they witness the murder of one of the members who failed to meet her sales goal. Seeking help, they find that suburbia is more frightening than anything they had ever heard of. Stealing a car, they almost are able to escape until they take a bullet to the radiator and break down on railroad tracks, narrowly missing being run over by a train. They seek help at a police station, but are unaware at first that the police chief works for the sales ladies.

Steve slips away to take his test, but finds he picked up a makeup pencil at the police station and realizes that Hayley, who overhears the chief taking with the sales leader, is in a trap. The chief tries to grill her to find out where Steve went, while the sales ladies gather outside. Steve finds a helpful crazy neighbor who manages to get him inside the police station by crashing a car through the door, and Hayley vows to get him to his test despite his protests that he just wants to go to the hospital. As they make a run for it, they get some help from some kids playing street hockey that they'd helped previously as they slap a ball into a grenade launcher packed by the lead saleslady, blowing her up. Arriving at the testing site, Steve is in no condition to take the test, so Hayley takes it for him but gets a zero on it, being unable to even correctly spell Steve's name.

Meanwhile, when their calls go unanswered, Stan, Francine and Roger go downtown in search of them, but find that things have been cleaned up. As Roger regretfully figures the old downtown is gone, he learns that some of his previous vices have gone underground, although he is no longer as interested in participating in them.

In the end, Stan decides to move into a loft he buys in the downtown area he previously despised.
