When Francine’s adoptive parents stop by for an unannounced stay, Stan is furious that they refuse to assimilate to his “man of the house” ways. After he unsuccessfully tries to give them the boot, he is convinced that finding Francine’s birth parents will change things. While Stan finds Francine's birth parents, he can't convince Francine to meet them. So Stan goes through her adopted parents' things and finds their will in which everything is given to their biological daughter, Gwen.

Francine, devastated by this news, kicks her adoptive parents out and agrees to meet her birth parents. Stan then finds out that her birth parents gave her away with no care so they could ride first class on a plane. While this makes Stan uncomfortable, he still wants them until the house is set ablaze and they don't help him out due to insurance. Francine's adoptive dad comes back and saves Stan. He reveals that they love Francine and didn't give anything to her in the will because she is the smarter daughter and she married okay; Francine's adoptive dad also implied that the reason why Gwen is given everything in the will is because she acts like a moron and is doing bad in school, and that both Ma Ma and Bah Bah only did it to get Gwen some help. This convinces Stan to accept Francine's adoptive parents and to get the couple and their daughter back together.

Meanwhile, Steve tries to live to the extreme in order to get to second base with the class hottie by blowing up Roger with fireworks given as a gift from his grandparents. but when he accidentally blows off his own thumb. The paramedics are able to reattach it by numbing his hand and sewing it back on. Lindsay offers to go through with her promise of letting him touch her breasts, but due to the anesthetic, Steve is unable to feel anything.
