American Dad Wikia
  • The title screen lacks the exclamation point that has become part of the official title.
  • The pitch closely follows the "Pilot (American Dad!)", although some of the banter is different in places such as between Steve and Hayley, Steve wears a Captain Marvel/Shazam t-shirt instead of his regular outfit, the entire following scene at CIA Headquarters is missing, as is the scene at Pearl Bailey High School and the walk home where he finds out that a dog is what he needs to attract girls and the actual pilot features a televised phone conversation between God and President George W. Bush that is replaced here by a quick scene of Francine and Stan watching a black & white news program. The design of the house is also different as well.[1]
PPThreatMeter
PilotThreatMeter
  • The refrigerator threat meter lists the colors as Blue-Green-Yellow-Orange-Red, an error as green should come before the blue which was corrected in the actual pilot. To this day however, the colors will be random order, and sometimes even switch places mid-episode.[2][3]
  • Steve's voice and character design are significantly changed, becoming slightly older in appearance and with a deeper voice.
  • The "All in the Family - Creating American Dad!" special feature on the American Dad! Volume 1 DVD set reports that "another actress" auditioned for the role of Hayley, but the network executives liked the sound of Rachael MacFarlane in the animatic better so she was chosen for the voice. While the actress is not named, multiple sources claim it was Laura Prepon, who starred in That 70s Show.[4][5][6]. Some even claim it is her voice in the pitch[7] and in other episodes as well[8], although these are both false as Rachael's original animatic voice performance is used and she has no voice credits.
